Regarding the Creases in Folding Tatami Mats

Hello. Today, I would like to write about a question we often receive from customers: whether the creases in folding tatami mats are noticeable.

First, regarding folding tatami mats, traditionally, tatami is not designed to be folded. Therefore, each mat has a length of about 1.8 meters. Since this is inconvenient for international shipping, we also produce two-fold and four-fold tatami mats.

Folding tatami mats have a crease, as shown in the photo.

As for this crease, it becomes less noticeable after being smoothed with a pressure roller. Furthermore, even if you leave it as it is, the crease will completely disappear just by placing it on the floor.

This is a tatami mat delivered to a customer in Mexico a year ago. It is a two-fold tatami, but I could not tell where the crease was, even when looking at it closely.
